Hi All,
Welcome again to all those who just started this term. In this edition of our email newsletter below:
1. Weekly Monday classes continue with new teachers Beatriz and Andrew.
2. NO Weekly Practica this Thursday 1st Oct. – change of venue.
3. Next BATS monthly Milonga is on Saturday 17th October
4. YouTube clips
5. Non-BATS eventsFeel free to forward this on to anyone else who you think might be interested. In fact, it’s only by keeping the numbers up that we can afford to bring professional teachers to you, so please have a good hard think if there are any family, friends, or colleagues who you could persuade along. If you want removed from this circulation, just let me know.
Thanks,
Alan

Belfast Argentine Tango Societyhttp://www.tangoinbelfast.org1. Weekly Monday classes continue with new teachers Beatriz and Andrew. For the rest of the term we’ll have the pleasure of the services of another Argentine teacher – Beatriz Cisneros. Don’t be put off by the thought of a change in teachers, if you have just started with us; I’m sure Beatriz will be starting with some of the basics again so it’s a good chance for everyone to get to grips with them again. Beatriz has danced, studied and taught all over Europe and the USA. More recently, she has been in Cork and other parts of Ireland, where she has been highly recommended. More information is on her website:
http://beatanguera.weebly.com/meet-the-artist.htmlFor October she will also be accompanied by the American Andrew David Burt. Andrew has danced tango for over 9 years and taught for 7, starting in Portland in the US and living the last 3 and a half years in Buenos Aires. In BsAs he performed in Club Villa Malcolm, Me Rio de la Plata and the inauguration of El Indio's new milonga “Tangolab”, and taught at La Catedral and Tango Brujo. His teaching is analytical and focused more on the why and how than on memorized rules. He’s currently on tour in Europe, having taught in Moscow, Amsterdam and Vienna before coming to Ireland to partner Beatriz. Here is a clip of him in action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMR9jCjcGgcThe classes will be the usual format:
Beginners 7.00 – 8.30pmPractice 8.30 – 8.45pm
Improvers 8.45 – 10.15pmPractice 10.15– 10.30pm
Cost - £7 for one class, £10 for both (Student/Concession: £5/£8 – please show ID).
Usual venue details: the main upstairs hall of City Church, 12-24 University Avenue (on the left as you head down the Avenue away from Botanic - there's a large white church, then City Church is a red brick building a few doors further, opposite the Spar). The hall is above the “Common Grounds" café, but enter through the double doors round the corner – ring the bell if closed. Here's a link to a map:

NO Weekly Practica this Thursday 1st Oct. – change of venueAs The Edge has decided that it will no longer open on mid-week nights (we weren’t drinking enough!) we have to find another venue. So there will be NO PRACTICA this Thursday, 1st October. We hope to have an alternative venue arranged for next Thursday – details to follow. Classes are not enough!
3. Next BATS monthly Milonga is on Saturday 17th OctoberOur monthly Milongas are back to their regular schedule of the third Saturday of the month so the next one is Saturday 17th October (then 21st Nov.). The venue will still be The Edge, same time 9pm-12+, same price £5. Your chance to dress up and enjoy a night of Tango.
4. YouTube clipsHere are a few clips I found of our new Monday class teacher, Beatriz. The first one is a bit grainy and is a few years old, from a festival in Italy:

I'm Dolores from Tango Laboratory. I'd like to tell you about the next season of tango classes. We'll be continuing in the same venue - Markets Community Centre. I'll be running a tango beginners season on Wednesdays from September until December - and moving on to improvers level in January 2010. If you took any of the classes in the Spring and Summer but found it difficult to pick up the steps then here is your opportunity to start from the beginning. If you already are a more advanced dancer then you might find it helpful to review the technique and develop your skill with new dancers.
Wednesday Milonga.
After the tango class, at 9.30 pm there will be a Milonga Party at The Lonely Poet Bar & Bistro on the Kings Road. This is a great opportunity to hone your skills in a tango party atmosphere in a cool place. Don't be shy! I'll be doing basic tuition for anybody who wants to join in the party - even if they've never danced before.
WEDNESDAY From 9th September until 9th December
7.15 - 9.00: Tango for Beginners (Markets Community Centre)
9.30 - midnight: Milonga at The Lonely Poet
PRICES: Tango class: £ 4, Milonga: £ 5, Tango class + Milonga: £ 7
